A Tribute to the Musical Trinity - Kishore-Mukesh-Rafi

Dear Music Lovers
As Indians we have grown up praying to the Trinity of Brahma-Vishnu-Maheshwara as our Gods, or rather the manifestation of the Supreme god in three forms. 

As far as Carnatic Music is concerned we have grown up listening to the compositions of the Trinity Thyagaraya-Shyama Sastry-Muthuswami Dikshitar.

As far as Hindi Film Music is concerned we have grown up listening to the "Trinity of Kishore-Mukesh-Rafi" most, & I am sure majority of you would agree that we still enjoy listening to their eternal voices even after they have left us for the celestial world, not to forget other legendary singers like Manna Dey, Hemanth Kumar, Talaq Mehmood, and many more... 

There seems to be only one occasion when this singing trinity of "Kishore-Mukesh-Rafi" have sung together for a song from the film "Amar, Akbar, Anthony" as if symbolizing why I call them the trinity. Though personally not a favorite of mine but it is to just remember and to show case what pleasure they have given to us over the years. 

As today being a weekend I am sure all music lovers would not mind listening to there solo numbers too I am linking one solo number of the trinity.

Today, we Indians celebrated the birthday of Lord Ganesha as "Vinayaka Chathurti".  Lord Ganesha is worshipped as the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune and traditionally is invoked at the beginning of any auspicious occasion or new venture. Hence, I wish to dedicate this song on Lord Ganesha "Vathapi Ganapathim Baje" to one and all in this universe. 

Its an Instrumental version by G. Bharathwaj on flute, which I happened to accidentally listen to while surfing and found it really mellifluous in rendering.

I had listened to this lovely song after a very longtime today and I wish to share the same with you, when I was working as a sales representative for a company, I was on a visit to Coimbatore in Tamilnadu, it happened to be a Sunday and I ventured to see this movie called "Chitram", made in Malayalam. I came out of the theater completely satisfied having watched a very good movie and it happened to be my first Malayalam movie that I had seen on screen. Everything about the movie was good. It was written and directed by Priyadarshan.

Dear Music Lovers,

The song that comes to my mind instantly when I want to post a Kannada flavor is "Endendho Ninnanu" from the  film "Eradu Kansu", Music by Rajen Nagendra, though I was introduced to this song first in Kannada which I liked very much without understanding the lyrics in those days when I was in my teens, I started to enjoy it much more when I listened to it in Telugu (Ennneno Janmala bandham). The lyrics were written by my friend's father Dasaradhi in Telugu. I am posting both the versions of the song for your enjoyment. Hope you enjoy both the versions.

Yesudas, from the Malayalam Movie "His Highness Abdullah" made in 1990. The music was composed by Raveendran Master who won the best Kerala film award for music for this film and M.G. Sreekumar won the best male play back singer for the song "Nadaroopini" for the same film but some how the song sung by Jesudas makes me listen to it time and again whenever I am reminded of Malayalam film-His Highness Abdullah. A director who I always thought could have given us much more than he has actually delivered by way of films like Elizabeth, Bandit Queen, Mr. India etc., The lyrics by Gulzar are as expected are to the demand of the story line and he went on to win the best lyricist for "Tuj Se Naraz nahin" from the same movie. Dr. S.P. Balasubrahmanyam needs no introduction to the millions of music lovers across the world as he has sung more than 40,000 songs in several languages and still counting. He started his career singing for the film Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanaa (1966) in Telugu under his guru SP Kodandapani.
